Paul Marie Couteaux is one of 3 French MEPs in the Independence & Democracy Group. The above text, which can also be accessed using the link at the top of this post, appeared in the July 2007 issue of La Lettre de L'Independence. This is a French newspaper, paid for and published by the Independence & Democracy Group in the European Parliament. For those who speak no French, M. Couteaux is expressing his support for, amongst others, Front Nationale MEP Marine Le Pen in last year's French elections. The newspaper also regularly contains interviews with members of the now defunct neo-fascist ITS group in the European Parliament, to which both Marine and her Father, Jean Marie both belonged. Are UKIP members happy that Ind Dem funds, to which UKIP MEPs contribute, are used to support the electoral activities of the French National Front? Are UKIP members happy about their MEPs sitting in a group with other MEPs who openly support fascists, and fund that support with Ind Dem money? Last edited by Mjolnir; 09-05-2008 at 04:24 PM. |

I have never been one for becoming involved in complicated matters, but I note that Mjoinir was the individual who placed into the public domain information that Clive Page has a criminal conviction. On that occasion it was registered as his/her posting number 4 Shouldn't his one be number 5? I am sure that Anthony will be able to explain this confusion.
How long has money from the IDG been used for this purpose? I think that it is vitally important that all the relevant annual accounts are produced as a means fo answering this question. |

I can't read/speak French, sorry to say.
For the interest of accuracy and completeness I wonder if someone might translate into English the complete article referred to by Mjolnir, and if possible review the other blog comments by Paul-Marie Couteaux for added context. Thanks in advance. One isolated blog or forum comment does not usually and certainly not in this case of a French politicians comments from last year lead me to any comprehensive conclusion. Still at least Mjolnir must on the basis of this topic fully support the actions of the UKIP leadership against Albert Burgess. So that is a good thing. Unless...? |

Couteaux is a leading light in the campaign for Independence for Quebec. He is not very flattering in his comments about the Queen, although given his sexuality, you would have thought he would be quite keen on those generally. (He is one of those annoying gays whose life revolves around his sexuality. Like the rest of the world cares...)

Mr Couteaux is supporting those who opposed the Constitution. Nothing more nor less. Chevenment being the socialist leader who oposed the Constitution.
Your questions sound like a complaint about the Murmansk convoy. Did people realise that British lives and taxpayers money were being used to support Stalin and the construction of the Gulag? In the case of Mr Couteaux, his enemy's enemy is his friend (at least until we have won the war). On his position on Quebec. It might have escaped your notice but he is French. I am sure that the Greek member of the Ind/Dem group would like to see the Elgin marbles sent to Athens. The Czech is a supporter of the Benes decrees and so on and so forth. Being a group designed purely around three broad points. Accountability, transparancy and opposition to European integration (be it constitutional, monetary, economic, social etc) we do not demand that every member of the group be British, with a British vision of the world. To do so would be both stupid and insufferably arrogant. |
