Helloooo..I'm Georgian..May be it's not forum about it..but we are attacked by russian airplanes...and USA and all Europe left us alone against Russia..Thank you..Our soldiers are in Iraq and USA left us alone...we are loosing..Russia airplanes are bombing peacfull people....

Actually my family is half Russian, and we are appalled at the actions in Georgia at the moment. Putin's fascist regime is a disgrace.

I am concerned for the Georgians as well. I have worked amongst them and a number of my friends are at risk. My former driver is a military reservist and will be called up. It's not funny and people who are concerned are entitled to speak out.

But who is the infantile gc to be making pathetic statements about UKIP supporters on this issue.

I'd suggest that a cheap jibe over such a serious issue ably demonstrates his own lack of concern over many hundreds of innocent people losing their lives in yet another tragedy.

Agreed, st athan, each UKIP member will have different views on international politics. I spent last Xmas (Old and New) and New Year in Georgia and have a view from someone who has friends who might get caught up in this tragedy. My interpreter was part Osset and will have views on both sides.

International diplomacy rarely works for long in the Caucasus. Sadly more people will be killed tonight and nothing will be solved.

What concerns me is that the title of the thread is well written in English with a title that would interest UKIP members and yet the message itself is written in a pidgin English.

President Shakasvilli's hubristic and cruel attack on the South Ossetians is what has caused this outbreak of hostilities. The Ossetians are ethnically, historically, culturally and linguistically far closer to the Russian people than to the Georgians. Shakasvilli has grossly over-reached himself and brought much trouble on many innocent people. He will live to regret his sordid genocidal adventure in South Ossetia
