Ian Paisley entered in 1974.
Thanks for that. Spink would certainly not be exempt then.

You're welcome.

Indeed, Spink cannot sit in both.

There have already been moves to get Spink to go for the Euro elections. Senior party members want him to go for the Eastern region. UKIP gets it first MP and what do the leadership do? Ask him to become an MEP.

Get real stop bleating. Why else would Spink come over ?. Fair does, UKIP gets an MP for a year to allow it to sus out how to use the parliamentary system , in exchange for an on line MEP. Win win. If he can be both fine .

No, it reeks of Cronyism.

Not according to S.1 (e) of the House of Commons Disqualification Act 1975 he can't.

No because it is 100% of our MP at stake. We need at least one person in the House of Commons and MEPs are easier to create. If he looses his seat at the next election then it might be a good idea depending on how much he looses it by. Mind you I'm pretty confident he will do all he can to hang on to it and if he does he might not be alone for long.

I think that Spink should stay in place to fight the general election for UKIP. If that is unsuccessful he would have earned his spurs for getting on MEP list the next time if he wants that.

I imagine he could, if they are both at the same time, but that would be used against him in the election as a demonstration that he doesn't think that he can win.
