Farage still hasn't got a retraction from the Sunday Times. I'd love to know what they have on him, although I suspect the whole world will find out in the run-up the the 2009 euro-elections.

Perhaps Farage and the ST came to an agreement to just let it all drop from public view?

I would think that if I had been in Farages position I would have pushed as hard and as loudly as I could to get at least a withdrawal of what was supposedly said by the ST if it was untrue as Farage claimed weeks and weeks ago.

It seems strange that nothing is being said by either side on this subject for such a long time.

Why would the ST do that? If they knew they had it wrong, they would face up to it rather than leave Farage with a sword of Damocles. NF would want it to drop, for obvious reasons.

The much-vaunted letter NF wrote to the ST failed to deny that Farage Jr was being employed by, or thanks to the influence of, another MEP or UKIP figure.

It also conceded that there is an OLAF investigation....

The latter point should, according to the rules, bar NF from standing as a UKIP candidate, or holding any party office, until the conclusion of the investigation.

I think he should step down, he is too much of a liability, and not all that good as a political leader!

I don't know much about him other than what I have read. I met him once, he is not very imposing, but seems personable.

We need to shift emphasis to Westminster. Anybody else think he should be looking at taking the leadership?

I remember Farage saying he did not want the leadership, but was only standing because he wanted to keep Petrina out. When Petrina stood down, he still stayed in the race, so that was a lie.

I remember Farage promising that if elected leader, he would devote his time to the UK. He spends more time in Brussels now than ever before, so that was a lie.

Not employing family? Another lie.

No OLAF investigation? Another lie.

His son was never employed?.... that is starting to look a bit ropey, too.

The leadership should be based in Westminster, not Brussels, and since Farage's priorities are obviously furthering the aims of the Independence & Democracy Group in Europe, and making as much money as possible, I think he should step aside and let the party get on with what it used to be good at.

Actually, given what we had to build on, May 1st was a bloody debacle. We lost both London Assembly seats, won an extra couple of nowhere-on-sea council seats, and let the Tories regain their momentum (the latter will probably earn Farage a few pints from his 'H bloc' Tory chums in Brussels).

Was it Cromwell who said "Just go!"?
