Default A good night for UKIP?

I would be interested to hear the split of UKIP's membership, elected Councillors and MEPs between the home nations of the UK. I assume England provides 95% of all.

At present, UKIP holds no real attraction for English nationalists. While most of us are very anti-EU, we look upon UKIP as a last gate defender of that dying and artifical concept of "Britishness".

Yet a number of current or past UKIP members have shown that they hold strong English identities - or are very concerned about England's second class treatment in the UK and its lack of its own Parliament.

If UKIP stood for England alone now, it might well be able to claim political leadership of the English nation. Wait until June 2009 when it is very likely that UKIP will falter in the Euro-elections and there may be other parties claiming and exercising political leadership in England!

The electors generally are at present very unimpressed by UKIP. The electors might be very impressed by a number of parties putting aside personal power bases, and their egos, and joining together to campaign against the EU and the corrupt professional politicians.

UKIP by virtue of its democratic mandate, its greater size and resources has the right at present to call for, and to lead, an English Alliance. But not forever. Time is against the UK, UKIP and "Britishness".

So please UKIP move to look after the key home nation of England and fly its flag. After all, if England leaves the EU, it is hard to see Scotland and Wales remaining in it.

Some UKIP members may not like the above advice. Ask yourselves: "What would the big three pro-EU parties want UKIP to do?" Keep on with the status quo and a futile and dwindling future - or for UKIP to claim leadership and to take on the mantle of England's defender?

Worth thinking about.
