I welcome the introduction of a genuinely anti-EU voice into the House of Commons. Please ensure you make maximum use of it. This issue on which UKIP was founded is so important it transcends party loyalties, for without national sovereignty we cease to be a nation and masters of our own destiny.

I welcome Dr Bob Spink as our first, of many, MPs' Just one nagging doubt, and that concerns the glowing report in the Daily Telegraph. I have never known that newspaper, to give UKIP positive on one day, without a hard kick up the hypogastrium the next. Just wait and see.

I have noticed a real change in style from the Telegraph of late. They have been much more willing to talk about the EU and have certainly given UKIP more time of late.

You're right. On the whole, they see it as their duty to support the Tories whatever the circumstances and did initially become very cosy with 'Team Dave'. However, I suspect privately many of the upper hierarchy (former editor Charles Moore being one particular example) are disappointed with his indifference to the EU and know how angry many still feel at his u-turn on the EPP coalition. And their stick of choice is often to give an acknowledgement or two to UKIP.

Another quick thought: Heffer writes on Wednesdays, so good timing if he's to comment on this story - and he's been unwavering in his criticism of the New Tories....

It's excellent news and long may it continue.
