If anti-EU MP Mr. Spink has joined UKIP then this important political development comes on top of news today of a fall in support for the pro-EU Cameron-Conservative Party he was a member of until last month:

"Tory opinion poll down from 13% to 5% - support for Cameron below that of his party"

Andrew: I hope that you will agree with me that the English Democrats (EDP), UKIP, Veritas, One London and, of course, your Free England Party (FEP), should meet to try to agree on a limited or full agreement that only one of the named parties contest any given electoral contest?

Such an agreement would mean that when Mr. Spink stands for UKIP at the next General Election (if it is true he has joined UKIP) the FEP, the EDP, Veritas and One London would not put up candidates in his Castle Point constituency.

In return, your FEP could contest a Parliamentary By-Election elsewhere with UKIP/EDP/Veritas/One London support.

An agreement of this kind between the named parties would help prevent the anti-EU and pro-England vote from being split.

Yes - I brought this up earlier in this thread. I would expect Mr. Spink MP to get more media appearances if it is true that he has joined UKIP.

For a start he might get on Question Time on BBC 1.

The Labour vote has just gone up 5% according to a new ICM opinion poll in today's Guardian (I linked to a report on the poll a little earlier in this thread in posting number 33).

The important thing is that Mr. Spink is anti-EU and anti-abortion.

It is a pity that there are not 300 or 400 more like him in the Commons.

I'm glad you're as thrilled as a prep school boy who's got his first fifty, but the long term omens are not good. There have been maverick MPs in the past who have defected to lost causes before, one being John Stonehouse who became an English National Party MP in the 1970s. Yes the first English nationalist MP, where the EDP people on here familiar with that?

He was kicked out by a massive majority at the next election and the party, temporarily saved, renewed its death bed throws to sink into political oblivion.
