Yes, deffinately a major boost for UKIP! Seriously, is THAT the sort of MP that UKIP wants? Or is it just another case of scraping the barrel? Still, I suppose it should do the UKIP campaign a little bit of good, but not too much as it wont help in their efforts to ditch the racist image the party has been accused of in the past.

I would urge caution here, seriously!

PS Why did'nt he do this in time to boost UKIP's election broadcast? The whole thing seems a bit suss to me.
Who the hell are you? If Spink wants to kick out illegal immigrants he gets my support 100%

Go back to Nulabour Moscow.

More really good news. I have no doubt that the vast majority of UKIP members have had it up to here wih the "gay" element. Someone should propose a conference motion to prove it.

Believe it or not I just heard somebody (desperately trying to talk up the parade of morons that is the London mayoral election) describe LibGay candidate Brian Paddick as 'a straight kind of person'!!!!

This is the man who gave the term 'bent copper' a new meaning. Three cheers for our last candidate Frank Molony who spoke up for the UKIP grassroots on this tiresome issue.

I'm sure we can make him see sense on that one. Presumably he was just following the party line.

Bloody delighted. Bob's really going to be a fantastic addition to the Party not just in terms of his work inside the Commons, but helping UKIP now go on and win more seats.

It'll be interesting to see how much press attention we get on TV from the BBC.

I would expect UKIP to make Castle Point (Canvey Island/South Essex) the party's number one target at the next General Election if it is true that the anti-EU MP for the constituency, Mr. Spink (a former member of the Parliamentary Conservative Party) has joined UKIP.

Their is already a sizeable UKIP vote at Castle Point - the party came quite close to pushing the europhile Liberal 'Democrats' into fourth place at Castle Point at the last General Election . If UKIP can get thousands of members from all around the country to canvass and leafet in Mr. Spink's constituency and if all UKIP MEPs visit the seat to knock on doors and meet voters the UKIP vote is sure to rise there further.

Efforts by UKIP should now be made to try to persuade other anti-EU parties such as the English Democrats not to put up a candidate at Castle Point at the next General Election (so that the anti-EU vote is not split).

This is the result at Castle Point last time:

Conservative (Mr. Spink) 22, 118 (48.2%)
Labour 13, 917 (30.3%)
Liberal 'Democrats' 4719 (10.30%)
UKIP 3431 (7.49%)
Green 1617 (3.53%)

Conservative Majority 8201 (17.9%)
Voter turnout 66.6%

The constituency will probably be fought on slightly different boundaries at the next General Election.
