Default Ukip Open Top Double Decker Bus London - Great Experience!!!

Just want to Recommend going out on the open top UKIP bus for Gerards UKIP mayoral campaign and the UKIP London assembly. I went out today to leaflet with them and it was a great experience. There was only 8 of us , Gerard Batten being one of them and he will be on the bus everyday. A great chance to meet other candidates for the London Assembly as well. I believe Gerard will be on the bus everyday until May 1st. I urge all UKIP folk to help for one of the days, even those out of London. Also a great way to see London being on an open top old style Routemaster, decked out with the UKIP colours and logos ( a rare experience). You can phone and find out where the bus will be on any day from now until May 1st. Simply call 07892953263

I will try and get out with them again at some stage before the end of the campaign. It is always awkward with work, but I am sure I will get out again before the end of the campaign. It wasn't so much a membership drive, but alot of leaflets were given out and brand awareness- who knows we may get a members out of it. Alot of people showing there support beeping their horns and taking leaflets, and of course the usual people from the far left who want to give you the finger and some colourful language. Alot of sympathy out there for our cause.

Usage of the Routemaster is an excellent idea. Londoners like the Routemaster. It is (like the black taxi used in the recent party election broadcast of UKIP London MEP and 2008 London Mayoral candidate Mr. Gerard Batten) a world-famous symbol of their city and of our great capital.

Will Mr. Batten be trying to get a photograph of himself campaigning on the Routemaster bus in the London local media (i.e. in newspapers such as the London Evening Standard; the free weekday newspapers in the capital or local weekly newspapers within London) or on local television (i.e. ITV 1 and BBC 1 Television London area local news bulletins)?

The Routemaster is very popular - including here in London - and publicity should be given to and attention drawn to the fact that europhile Livingstone (Labour candidate in the 2008 London Mayoral elections) promised (in 1999) not to get rid of Routemasters and did exactly that as Mayor of London (in 2006).

In a very close vote for the London Mayoral election on 1.5.2008 who wins could be decided by who the pro-Routemaster bus vote in the capital goes to (Livingstone is fervently anti-Routmaster backing the unpopular single-deck two section european continental-built 'bendy-buses' instead and Conservative London Mayoral candidate Boris Johnson rightly wants to build a new 21st century British-made Routemaster to replace the unwanted 'bendy-buses').

In supporting the pro-Routemaster cause, Mr. Batten and UKIP could well get extra votes in the coming London Mayoral election from those voters who rightly consider the return of the Routemaster to be a priority issue (voters have two votes in the Mayoral election - first and second preference votes - and pro-Routemaster voters may give one of their votes to UKIP if they hear that UKIP wants the Routemaster bus back and the other of their two votes to Conservative Boris Johnson MP).

UKIP has on file the exact words of Livingstone's promise:

UKIP-hating europhile Livingstone (a Labour MP at the time) said in 1999: "Only some ghastly dehumanised moron would want to get rid of the Routemaster.”

The British-built Routemaster - "The Monarch of the road":

Routemaster Association

London Mayoral Election 2008 candidates: Richard Barnbrook - British National Party, Gerard Batten - UK Independence Party, Siân Berry - Green Party, Alan Craig - Christian Peoples Alliance and Christian Party , Lindsey German - Left List, Boris Johnson - Conservative Party, Ken Livingstone - The Labour Party, Winston McKenzie - Independent, Matt O'Connor - English Democrats, Brian Paddick - Liberal Democrats.

Full details of the London Mayoral and Assembly candidates for the 1.5.2008 London Elections at:

London Elects - The candidates

and in posting number three at:

The sooner Livingstone is out the better.

All on board,ding ding.
This is such an effective weapon that much of the media attended the launch.
Thanks must go to our press team
When they attack us we are heading the right way, when they attack our press team WE'RE WINNING!
Typically the Evening Standard had a dig at us but they are pursuing a non democratic agenda.
Do come along girls (and boys) it's great fun and free!
BUT DO WRAP UP

PS We had that Jill Seymour of the NEC and West Midlands on the top of the bus last week, thanks Jill.
David Campbell Bannerman should be there today in Ealing.

UKIP's Magical Mystery Tour reaching parts of London that never knew UKIP ested.

With rear doors even the elf'n'safety mob will be happy.

Hop on,hop off with leaflets, hop on!

I hope for 2009, UKIP has already in place a plan to obtain/hire a fleet of routemasters or open top equivalent and staff them as an extremey effective means of shop windowing UKIP & it's message.

It was embarrasing in 2004 that UKIp only had a tacky old bus with torn posters peeling off & only ad hoc plans to use it whilst Green's had a very smart & impressive routemaster with professional looking messages on it moving around & oparking in strategic places for leaflets to be handed out.

Maybe UKIP should come to a subcontract deal with Green's or its suppliers.
