Might I suggest to those who are interested in Spink joining UKIP that they email Bob directly and Jeffrey Titford MEP who made an overture to Spink after he had praised UKIP in the House of Commons some time ago.
Before that Bob had half put his toe in the water when I was the local UKIP Chairman. I suggested to him then that if he wanted to discuss the matter without the whole world knowing, he should contact me first. The ball was left in his court.
Since then Farage issued his statement that UKIP would not put a candidate up against anyone who had signed the BOO petition. Later Spink became Chairman of the CIB. Then of course he finally lost the Tory whip.
If UKIP had something irresistable to offer him he might be interested but if he is to beat an official Tory and the Labour candidate he will need a lot of friends and supporters. I don' t think Farage and his entourage campaigning in Castle Point would have any greater effect than when he campaigned at the by-election in Bromley with £80,000 to spend.
