Default Why did Reverend choose BNP over UKIP?

Quote:
He said: "I had to quit the Lib Dems because of their complete and idiotic dedication to staying in Europe.

"I think being part of Europe is a total disaster.

"I flirted with joining the UK Independence Party, but the BNP is the only one putting forward theories I agree with."
Churchman And Ex Council Chairman Is Bnp Activist (from Echo)

I think we need to answer the difficult question of why he chose BNP over UKIP. If we can answer that it may help solve why we've done so badly recently in local elections.

This guy should be naturally attracted to us. He doesn't seem the sort who would be swayed by certain 'extreme' policies of the far-right.

Or could it be something as simple as they have a stronger local group?

Possibly he was put off by recent bad press of UKIP, or maybe other factors such as people running the show?

If he can bring himself to support th BNP then why on Earth would you want to attract him?

He seems typical of the average voter who seem to be choosing the BNP over UKIP at local elections.

People can childishly claim that people who vote BNP 'are all racists'. The more mature response is to ask why they are voting BNP. Frustration, desperation, anger...........

The man was a liberal democrat. He was probably one of the more socialist ones. That's why he was attracted to the BNP, their socialist policies.

Incompetence, mainly. See the dedicated thread in the other parties section.

"I think being part of Europe is a total disaster.

"I flirted with joining the UK Independence Party, but the BNP is the only one putting forward theories I agree with."

He said the BNP had recently set up a Rochford district branch and planned to field a candidate in Hullbridge this May - BNP member Bob Green, who stood last year and came second.

I think he joined the BNP over UKIP because UKIP is falling apart at the seams, whereas the BNP is getting stronger and more professional by the day.
Recent election results for UKIP have been terrible for a party that is represented in Europe. Maybe he can see that UKIP may cease to exist in any major form after the coming Euro elections.
