UKIP could do with a mini-updates section on their website that gets updated every day with all the small details of what is happening. Anything that doesn't qualify for a press release or full story could be put there. In this case, a small statement from Farage about his legal intentions would be useful.
One has to question the intelligence of keeping people in the dark over an issue which is subject to so much speculation and is so damaging to the party leader. Why are members left to find out about a (possible) legal action from an unrelated late report of an ill-attended meeting? Communication? What's that?

It seems that Farage's defence policy on this one is to lash out at others, both colleagues and staff, to divert attention away from his own predicament.
The facts remain: A retraction was promised to the NEC. A retraction was alluded to in other postings on the party website. He fails to confirm that his son was not employed. He admits, to the Sunday Times, that there is an OLAF investigation. None of this is satisfactorily addressed. The only question now must surely be: "Exactly how much is he hiding?" Would you donate money to, or vote for, a party run by such a slippery individual? |

Richard Allen,The countries voting public are made up of many millions and therefore it is not in the UKIP interest to have such negative media attention on the UKIP party.
It should also be quite obvious to all that in an election,NON UKIP MEMBER VOTES ARE MORE THAN UKIP MEMBER VOTES ARE. Savvy? |

It is almost certain (at this point) that his son wasn't employed, so all we are really discussing is the management of an unjustified piece of negative publicity. What will an average member have seen so far? A piece appeared in the paper about Farage employing his son 'Conway style'. Then a denial was issued via the website. I don't know if anything has appeared in the inhouse mag since then. Since that time, there has been nothing. People not on the web won't have seen the denial, and people on the web are still waiting for any more information beyond a denial. Now you might be right that the average members don't care, but many of the activists do, and it is the activists who keep the party going. As we have discussed before, activist morale and communication is extremely important, but yet again, the party is failing to realise this. And you may say that it is only the (very large) anti-Farage groups who will use this... which is all the more reason to deal with it swiftly, accurately and definitively. Charlie is, for example, still using it as a stick to attack with, but Farage could have killed that off with a well worded update. UKIP is its own worst enemy.

It's like issuing a statement saying you don't beat your wife. Once you deny it then "no smoke without fire" is the immediate reaction. Farage is right to seek properly qualified legal advice and then do what he is advised to do. If that's just ignore it then fair enough. |

I would think that votes from non UKIP Members have already been lost over this, and votes from UKIP Members could also be lost.(party's.....they are all the same etc....).
