UKIP are not welcome in the Irish referendum campaign, that has been made clear now.

So NF called it completely wrong on every aspect of this.

I read yesterday that up to 90% want a referendum. They would all be lining up behind UKIP now if we had been visible.

Nice one, Mr 0%.

Alteclansing: Providing that you are only STARTING to wish that you hadn't voted for me, there still remains hope for you. We should have had a strategy formulated a year ago, for all our supporters, irrespective of former political allegiance, to visit their own MP with their message. I wouldn't have minded from whom we got the necessary extra votes. Am I to assume that this evenings result is more acceptable to you, than victory resulting from other means? Take that reasoning to its logical conclusion; do you want to leave Europe, but only if your favourite party can bring it about? Most of us say, victory at all costs: far better than defeat on the terms of others.

Some of us constantly badgered our MPs, not that it did any good.

I am afraid that writing to your MP is a total waste of time, 99% of the time.

They will heartely agree with you if they already are of the same opinion. Otherwise they will fob you off. They have no intention of "representing" their constituents. There are only a few that care enough to pay attention, the rest will just vote on vague promises and MSM coverage at the elections.

To-morrow we will see who exactly voted. The N.I. MPs' vote should be interesting. Without wishing to be ungenerous to any individual, those 32 votes could have been achieved with a different policy. Any opposition party will have fewer votes than the government. That is why they are in opposition. The nationalists' votes, really, should have been with us. Fear not, we will win; there is still a long way to go.
