DANIEL FOGGO MI5

Petwina, I Googled the above and all I see is an investigative journalist has come up with excellent stories of interest to those who are interested in international affairs, spies and politics. Lots of the links are to blogs and websites discussing the items. They are not all Daniel Foggo on his own, but David Leppard and others.

What do you expect an investigative journalist to report on? Google DF with David Cameron. You get a lot more returns. You get 7 returns for DF and IKEA and about 200 with UKIP.

So Petwina, what picture do I get?

Splendid idea, mrabody, but with one fatal flaw. 'We' as in the UKIP membership, NEC, or anyone really, don't have the power to bring him home from Brussels. Our sole function was to help him get an MEP seat, and having done that there's diddly squat else we can do to make him take any notice of us at all.

And even if were possible to 'bring him home' what kind of job would he make as UKIP - UK leader? If it was the job he wanted to do - he would be doing it! His heart is in Brussels for some unknown reason!!!

To be fair, Nigel has done a superb job in Brussels. If it wasn't for him there would be no visible resistance to the EU at all.

In the UK he has also made a major impact in the media (as in several high profile appearances today).

The problem is the party in the UK. Others who might have helped don't seem to have been making the impact that might have been expected - perhaps it is just very difficult to get the UKIP machine overhauled - the policy papers for instance seem to be much delayed.

I would imagine that they have made a decision to wait until a general election is announced before releasing them.

I think most would be happy that he concentrated on Brussels if he appointed a UK leader. I think there were suggestions that he did not want to be UKIP leader, but entered the contest to stop RS winning. This would now appear likely - given that most of his energy seems to be concentrated on the EU Parliament. Everything would be fine if he was able to appoint a high powered UK leader, but this seems impossible for the man. Essentially he wants UKIP to be a one man show, he cannot think of what is best for the party, but what is best for him. He wants no challenge to his command and someone able to do a good job as UK leader would be a real threat.

Yes, they are mates.

Yes, they cook up anti-UKIP stories together.

If Nigel Farage does not either sue for libel re his son, or at the very minimum file an immediate claim with the Press Complaints Commission, then Mark Croucher is wrong.

Four reasons not to vote UKIP in the 2009 Euro elections:

1. Ashley Mote: Benefit fraudster locked up for falsely claiming nearly £100,000 Housing Benefit from Chichester District Council - and used the hated E.U. institutions to try and win immunity from prosecution in the British courts

2. Robert Kilroy-Silk - left UKIP after a few months, never seen in the East Midlands, and doesn't actively campaign for Britain to leave the E.U.

3. Tom Wise - irregularities re false claims for money paid to researchers and Peugeot car bought on E.U. staff allowance, currently under investigation by OLAF

4. Nigel Farage - pays wife and son at Exeter University from E.U. staff allowances, currently under investigation by OLAF (allegedly)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

One reason to vote UKIP: They are the ONLY party whose policies I believe in and can defend with reasoned and intellectual argument.

Default Rule of employing MEP's wives

Yes. In October 2004 the UKIP Delegation met in Strasbourg and drew up its own rules governing employment by MEPs.

One of those rules was about wives. The Delegation unanimously agreed that no MEP should employ a spouse in any capacity. This was partly prompted by Kilroy's decision to use his wife as his PA. However Kilroy made it clear that he was not and would not pay his wife; her work was entirely voluntary.

The main reason the decision was made was to ensure UKIP MEPs were not seen as enriching their families courtesy the EU. Nigel Farage spoke out strongly in favour of this policy (ie of NOT enriching families).

At some point afterwards Nigel quietly employed his wife but surrounded this with secrecy and did not tell his group which had not reversed the rule. Please however note that it is perfectly permissible under EU rules to employ a spouse (or indeed a son).

It remains a mystery exactly what Nigel's wife does, but no doubt Mark Croucher will be able to tell us, as they talk of nothing else in his pubs.

If anyone doubts the accuracy of this information, Gerard Batten will be able to confirm it.

I think that you will find that David Lott was very much against MEPs employing wives and in particular warned Nigel against doing it .When he left Nigel and others had a freer hand .
