Again unless paid use of wife is fiction is untrue as claimed by some has anyone had any dealings with NF's wife/secretary and what exactly does she do for and if she is paid ? Unless its not true its still serious.

Anthony Butcher - Your comments are absolutely pathetic - I have posted here before that if MEP's are not bending every rule they can to help fund UKIP in the UK then they are not doing there job. As to employing his wife - The IT contracting industry has a tacit agreement with the tax office that you can offset 25k's worth by employing a spouse as a secretary - 1000's and 1000's of people do this - Whilst it is sensible in politics to try and be as careful as possible - your ultra pious attitude is transparently driven by the fact you have missed out on a bit of power - just like Damien but without the flair

By all means disagree with me, but there is no need to be rude about it; it doesn't improve the quality of your post.

You think UKIP MEPs should bend the rules and take the risk, I think that they should be whiter than white and take the moral high ground. Both are valid opinions.

Yes. What's that got to do with political leaders constantly in the eye of a hostile media looking to embarrass them?

If by "ultra pious" you mean that I wouldn't employ family members if elected to office... then yes I am pious. I think that nepotism in politics is reckless and shows poor political judgement, regardless of how convenient it may seem at the time. This kind of thing is always going to happen. It's an absolutely unnecessary bit of bad publicity for UKIP. I am sure that it is easier to vent at me than criticise your party leader who caused it, of course.

Yes, they are mates.

Yes, they cook up anti-UKIP stories together.

If Nigel Farage does not either sue for libel re his son, or at the very minimum file an immediate claim with the Press Complaints Commission, then Mark Croucher is wrong.

Four reasons not to vote UKIP in the 2009 Euro elections:

1. Ashley Mote: Benefit fraudster locked up for falsely claiming nearly £100,000 Housing Benefit from Chichester District Council - and used the hated E.U. institutions to try and win immunity from prosecution in the British courts

2. Robert Kilroy-Silk - left UKIP after a few months, never seen in the East Midlands, and doesn't actively campaign for Britain to leave the E.U.

3. Tom Wise - irregularities re false claims for money paid to researchers and Peugeot car bought on E.U. staff allowance, currently under investigation by OLAF

4. Nigel Farage - pays wife and son at Exeter University from E.U. staff allowances, currently under investigation by OLAF (allegedly)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Ashley Mote - As Party Secretary at the time I took steps within days to remove him from the party. THe Press knew for weeks, posibly months about him. So much for public service. Had the press tipped us off he would not have been a UKIP candidate

2. Kilroy-Silk. Tony you were in the pay of this guy. You were his political advisor in those destructive months

3 & 4 All accusations that have yet to be proved. In my 12 years of ukip most accusations against the party or its officers prove to be untrue

Nikki S : I understand that Sam Farage is a Conservative Party card-carrying member. If allegations about him working within UKIP are true, and knowing also should that be made public, it would at least be newsworthy; were the NEC and Conserevative Party aware of this arrangement? Did they both parties agree or oppose this young man's employment situation? Was any NEC discussion about this matter minuted?

Employment arrangements are easily investigated. Should Master Sam be in gainful employment a P60 must be produced in April 2008. His NI number must be stated and the employer, being liable for the employers NI contributions, must be named.

Was Master Farage's paid-post advertised in the interests of transparentcy, and who interviewed him? Much in life is only about factual information, given that, we can reach a conclusion.

Geoffrey, A lot of MEPs staff are self-employed for tax and NI purposes and operate under a contract for services. There is no requirement for a P60 nor employers' contributions.

More than in the pay: he was the party's first chairman, I believe, according to the EC website...

I love the way that so many are now clutching at straws in the vague hope that somehow, someway, Nigel employed Sam.

Sorry to disappoint you all, but he didn't.

Oh, and he doesn't now, either.

Just in case you start dissecting tenses again.
