Default UKIP Candidate gets 23% in by-election

Murray Barter on Feb 7th in working class Bullbrook ward in the Tory stronghold of Bracknell - and within striking distance of Labour.

http://www.bracknell-forest.gov.uk/b...lt-of-poll.pdf

Bracknell & Wokingham Branch of UKIP produced and distributed an excellent leaflet for Murray with each elector in the ward addressed personally by name on the front cover. It seems to have worked.

Downside, turnout was poor with only 23% voting.

My old UKIP friends in B&W branch asked me to post this since they believe their participation on this forum to be verbotten

I did not ask but believe it to be vibes from HQ.

Another leg up for UKIP - appointing Marta Andreasen as party treasurer - heard her on the Today prog this morning - excellent.

Default Impressive result for UKIP, Bracknell, local ward By-Election contest, Labour, wards

A very impressive result for UKIP (at Bracknell on 7.2.2008) - one of the highest votes for any 'small' party in a local ward By-Election contest for some time.

The 23% UKIP vote share accords with my forecast that UKIP can beat europhile Labour into third place in a growing number of semi-urban and rural wards in the south of England (and, as we can see, are already doing so).

There was, I notice, no candidate for the pro-EU Liberal 'Democrats' and it seems that many Liberal 'Democrat' voters may have opted for UKIP instead - proof that a large number of Liberal 'Democrat' voters are eurosceptic or anti-EU (a fact backed up by opinion poll research). In other words (as I have written before) the leadership and policies of the Liberal 'Democrat' leadership do not reflect the eurosceptic views of Liberal 'Democrat' voters on EU (sovereignty) matters and other issues.

An admirable woman. Great that EU whistleblower Mrs. Andreasen (who europhile Kinnock allegedly suspended when he was Vice-President of the EU Commission) is involved with UKIP.

Great result. Reference the "excellent leaflet", is it possible to show a copy so that we may all benefit for future elections?]

Work through the channels - I am not one - your best bet is to speak with Steve Harris and ask him to have it distributed. He knows the B&W people well.

This is not an official UKIP forum - I can't see HQ twisting Anthony Butcher's arm...
