Might be old to this forum, but it is fresh new news to the readers of the Independent.

Ask them why they have taken so long to report on this.

I'm guessing The Independent are doing it because they hate Blair and want to embarass him at the least, and possibly help scupper his chances of becomming EUroreich president.

Didn't the Guardian do a flattering full page article on NF and UKIP a week or so before the 1999 EU 'parliament' elections? I remember several people commenting on it, and opinion was that it had been done to wind the Tories up.

Presumably there is no mention of NF (favourably or otherwise) in the print version of the paper.
