Al Murray wears £ badge during show

I was just watching Al Murray's Happy Hour and noticed he is wearing the UKIP pound sign lapel badge on his tie.
Anyone know if he has any connections to UKIP, or is this a cheap dig at our party/emphasise the impression some have that he is a xenophobe (or at least, his character is in an act of irony)?

Yes, when this was last discussed here the conclusion seemed to be that the character 'Al Murray' could be interpreted by some television viewers as mocking pro-England, pro-British and anti-EU people.
