This cancellation really let`s you know where we stand in the pecking order .
The passage of this treaty is one of the most important political milestones in Britain`s life /death and yet UKIP is not given much of a look in . Whilst the BBC has to give us some coverage they do it very grudgingly -apart from their general trendy -left wing leanings and general europhilia could it be something to do with the fact that they are in receipt of large loans from the EU? It`s a bit like cash for honours all over again . By the look of the audience in Question Time the Beeb is going to have a hard time keeping the lid on the demand for a referendum from the man in the street . |

Petrina: As on many occasions, you are absolutely correct. If we had spent the last two years wisely (if you forgive the unintended pun) UKIP would now be central to the Referendum Campaign. It appears that the UKIP leadership are genuinely surprised at the scale of the public demand, for them to be given 'their say'. Should that not be the case, why are we so unprepared?
Television is not necessarily the medium by which you connect with the more thinking elements in society. Apart from the news/current affairs programmes, I, like millions of others, rarely watch the idiots lantern. The masses are seeking leadership, but little is being provided; that is where we are failing. |

Well the viewing figures are quite high infact -don`t have them to hand but I was told them when I went on the programme and they were impressive .
As for Andrew Marr`s program it will be a lot lower . But my point was that looking at the reaction of the audience on QT they were very fed up ,in the main, at not being given a refendum. As Geoffrey has said there is a large scale of public demand for a vote .We know that it is about 80% of the population that want to be asked for their consent on this treaty . So any party objecting to one should be punished by the electorate ,conversely those whoare seen to push for one should be rewarded .Hence the fact that UKIP`s policy of sitting back and waiting for the good times is rather a foolish one . However as I am no longer tied to UKIP I am prepared to be a bit more relaxed about the lack of umph now been shown .The important outcome will be a very dissatisfied electorate come election time .Change is in the air -I hope . |
