On a different thread I've been asking for a report on the Phoenix Forum. However the organisers have been strangely silent.
Just so they don't have to worry about posting a report I've had confirmation from someone who was there that they wish they had not gone since it was a waste of fuel and expenses. Some speakers failed to turn up and the rest were reportedly incoherent ramblers (having seen the agenda I think I know who was who!). The promised participation from attendees was not allowed as no-one from the floor was permitted to take the stage. Attendees were reportedly dozing off with some leaving early. As it has been suggested (on another thread) that I'm interested in the Phoenix Meetings both sober and semi-inebriated then that makes Phoenix Meetings rather like Kebabs. Both are something that somehow, and against all logic and common sense, seem like a good idea when you've had a few beers but stone cold sober they make you shudder with horror. The silence from the previously highly vocal organisers and (alleged) supporters of the Phoenix Forum speaks volumes. No doubt a belated report will appear saying what a success the meeting was! Of course if that had really been true then the crowing on this forum would have been deafening within minutes of the meeting finishing. Hopefully yet another anti UKIP group has flamed out. Unfortunately they will probably be back under a new guise claiming to speak for UKIP Members when in fact they only speak for their own tiny number of malcontents who prefer knocking UKIP to doing anything constructive to fight the EU. |

Are we to assume that those who did not attend the Bournemouth conference
are quite satisfied, that at the commencment of the week in which Parliament is to discuss the Lisbon Treaty, nothing was organised by UKIP. We abondoned any plans for our own referendum, and effectively threatened a professor, who wished to talk about the 'Treaty', with a promise of possible adverse press comment. A well attended conference endeavoured to do something for the cause, and this will just be the start. Because if we don't take some action who will? Other organisations should be gravitating to UKIP for leadership, but nothing is happening. Effectively we have 'shut up shop'. Where are all those millionaires who we were told were rushing to join us? They clearly have had a change of mind and explanations wouldn't be hard to find. Stuart Wheeler is financing a Judicial Review in the High Court. If we had behaved differently this could have been our moment. We cannot seek help from others when we cannot demonstrate honesty and competence. This is central to our misfortune. Foolish comments from sycophants who are morally and intellectually 'pond life', will not advance the cause of national independence. In a democracy we are all have an equal right to our opinions, but not even in a democracy are all opinions of equal worth. Informed opinions are better than ill-informed ones and honest ones are better than dishonest ones. Presentation cannot always be a substitute for substance. |

If it was a waste of time, at least these guys to their credit were trying to et something moving , so rather than gloat , isnt it worth addressing why UKIP at the top seems to have completely given up except for displacement activity as a substitute to real action and plan re referendum and connecting with the public.

Prober: I am pleased to say that plenty is moving. All that has happened this weekend, and it was a success, was done at our own personal cost. Not one penny of UKIP's or other peoples money was spend. Compare that with a week of pestering by an EU paid journalist, working through UKIP , endeavouring to sabotarge our efforts by making constant threats and smears to our prospective speakers. Not what civilsed people should either do or expect. Are you happy that a professor was forced to withdraw because of persistent pressure? He wanted to speak against the Lisbon Treaty, and thought that was consistent with our Party's agenda. How are we either to attract or keep thinking people in the Party, if that which he experienced are our new standards?
Others are made of sterner stuff. A cross-party group, working with different organisations and individuals should be worth a moment of your time. Phone 020 7197 2333. or iwantareferendum.com are doing their best to keep the issue alive. |

I like that Petwina. I heard Nigel Farage on TalkSport this lunchtime, and he achieved more in that one hour than Phoenix Nights have achieved since they started griping and whining or could ever achieve. Let's face it, if you invite nutters like Noakes and Gerrish to speak it's hardly surprising that you achieve less than zero and nobody takes you seriously. R.I.T. |

Clearly you are content in your own world of 'top performing' UKIP - I am sure the Phoenix group have no wish to disturb you in your contentment. |
