Default Is UKIP too white, too male, too middle aged and too middle class?

Is UKIP too white, too male, too middle aged and too middle class?

Is UKIP as well as the wider pro-sovereignty and independence movements too narrow in terms of their demographics?

Should more be done to reach out and appeal to women, minority groups, different social classes and younger age groups? And how is best to achieve this?

Surely the EU is an issue that affects Britons of all different walks of life - and UKIP could stand to gain a lot from gaining support from a wider, more diverse pool of support?

I'm not suggesting or favouring positive discrimination or anything - merely that UKIP should seek to build ties in universities, within womens groups (such as the WI) as well as establishing bases of support in more deprived, diverse communities - promoting mobile, libertarian ideals over the entrenched socialist values?

Default Who cares if they are?

Perhaps they are but what does it really matter? Daft notions such as inclusivity and demographic representation are just modern, PC concepts. I wouldn't really want a governing party that wasn't representative of the indigenous majority, well educated or capable of dealing with the rigours of political life. Unfortunately for some this will more often than not mean that our leaders will have be white, middle class males. So what if they are I say.

Yes.
Yes.
We should get out and about more. Encourage more women and non-whites to become involved. We all sink or swim together.

Sadly, you are right.
Everybody should feel involved and that they can make a valuable contribution. Our candidate in the Portsmouth Council Election is an ordinary working class married woman with kids and a full time job. With her life experience she would do the task of Councillor or MP a thousand times better than the sort of gobshites who go straight from uni debating society to working for Browns ********.
We need to encourage people. Michelle was very leery of standing but she has taken to it like a duck to water because she likes to speak to people and knows how people live and their problems.

Was this idea taken straight out of the PC handbook?

Your bang on the money with that one. UKIP has got a great message to offer but if that message is only being offered to one type of person then the message will not get out their.

UKIP to me seems a party of the people the problem is we are a very diverse nation and thats not just cultural. You don't have to change your message just make different types of people understand how your message affects them.

A racist mindset by 22anduk that uses the term "white instead of indigenous thus marginalising the 33% of ethnic minorities who are "white" and who dont seem to count in his numbers game .... just like blatantly racist New labour & closet racist Tories . In any P.C. "reflecting society" numbers game , the targeting white ethnic minorities must be treated as equal priority with targetting non white minorities . If it doesnt, hold your nose.

I don't know if it is because 'UKIP [is] too white, too male, too middle aged and too middle class?' that is the problem, but possibly. However boring definitely - if you doubt that, take a look at UKIP TV - would these people capture the interest of more than say 0% - 2% of the voters? Oh - that's the level of support the party has!
