Default NEC meeting of 3 December 2007 (from ukip.org)

UK Independence Party - NEC meeting of 3 December 2007

NEC meeting of 3 December 2007

London Assembly elections

The selection of candidates for the May 1 London Assembly election is in process, with more candidates now added to the list and advanced Criminal Records Bureau checks being obligatory for all. Voting papers for the postal ballot of members should be sent out before Christmas with the count on 14 January 2008.

Campaigning

The party leader reported on the progress of parliamentary candidate adoption and he expects up to 250 PPCs to be in place by next spring. It is intended to produce a new family of literature and review the party’s corporate identity based on polling data and information received from focus groups. Planning for a budget and fundraising for the 2009 Euro-elections is in hand.

Young Independence

The NEC confirmed that Delroy Young had tendered his resignation from his position with Young Independence at its last meeting and that this had been accepted. A motion was carried deprecating his publication of inaccuracies about NEC matters.

A report was heard about the future of Young Independence which considered that the existing members of the Youth Council should continue in their roles whilst the structure of YI was reviewed.

Internet Communications

David Sinclair reviewed the progress on revamping the UKIP web site. Additions that will shortly be introduced will be a members’ response page and a photo-gallery which will be usable by the media

Concern was expressed about the quality of some branch websites on which material was unsuitable and seriously out of date. A proposal that the standard structure should be regional websites with branch pages was deferred to the next meeting.

And not before time that public info about NEC meetings are again provided. FYI I count 136 general election candidates already named at ukip.org plus 9 named persons in named constituencies not yet formally selected and also no candidate lists for several regions - East Midlands, London, Northern Ireland and Scotland. So if there are not 250 selected candidates by next spring I would find that somewhat disappointing. I could but won't comment on the rest.

Of course, the most important part of this is the publiscising of the Del/YI issue.

It is interesting that all the other items are covered in broad terms, wheras for Del it is stated that a particular motion was passed. An opportunity to publicly decry Del is clearly not to be missed!

There was no need for this, except in support of the agenda to rid the NEC of those who will stand up to NF.

I am sorry to say this is predjudiced opinion which is rubbish.

Ask Delroy directly for his opinion if you want the truth.

Your very apparent dislike of Farage is totally clouding any common sense you might have. I will elaborate no more. Having said it, to put the issue straight, I have no intention of continuing with a useless conversation.

DED.

Fair play to the party in getting the 250 candidates so far. They might just beat the last record at this rate!
