You said you didn't know why disabled people should get free parking, I submitted a possible reason why.

While there may be a theoretical anomoly in charging hospital patients parking
fees, but not the friends and families of prisoners, things are not always what they appear. You can be certain that the vehicles of those who visit the criminal fraternity are well noted. Aa a source of intelligence, no doubt, free parking has much to commend it. Life is more complex than that perceived by the 'Sun reader' school of social justice. UKIP is supposed to be about Constitutional matters of primary importance: let us keep to the main issues.

I'd agree that people going to hospital for treatment should not pay to park, disabled or not. I think this happens to a certain extent now.

I see where you are coming from with the disabled thing Brian. It is simply a fact that a lot of disabled people have more than enough money to be able to pay. Whether that is thanks to generous benefits or their own hard work.

I think it's a bit like the recycling thing (emotionally) though. Fair, reasonble and right doesn't come into it. It's about pandering to the warm fluffy feeling brigade, no matter what. After all, no one would begrudge a poor disabled person some extra benefits right? They are so unfortunate and have probably had a miserable and wretched life (note I am being sarcastic). It's almost like a pat on the head for the poor loves.

Some disabled people probably find it patronising (I would), but at the end of the day, most people don't turn down a free lunch and most people who realise it's a bit of a con are either scared of being called heartless, or simply think there are bigger fish to fry so don't make a fuss.

I have asthma, which in my mind makes me a bit disabled. Where can I cash in for a free lunch?

Going back to paying for parking at prisons because people pay to park at hospitals, two wrongs don't make a right.

Ukip should be campaigning on restoring free parking at hospitals.

If all the Ukip branches across the country petitioned for this it would get us much needed publicity and plenty of public support.

Indeed but is a child depirved of a father through no fault of its own also vunerable, is a wife deprived of her husband not vunerable? Are these people somehow less human then you or I because of something their realative has done?

Agreed. A simple token system and barriers should stop people dodging the local car park charge when shopping. Hospitals should be funded directly, not by parking taxes.
