I mentioned many times to Del on the phone that we need to create some institutions for an election. Everytime I asked him this he dismissed it as pointless. Probably because he knows that an elected council would have the democratic legitimacy that would have more power in decision making than him.
I am very much for elections. Afterwhich, I would hope that the council in place following the elections would try to put this whole Delroy issue behind them as it is holding things back. |

I am saying that what John Whittaker did is extremely unprofessional. As I said, there are two sides to every story, which is why it is grossly unfair to ambush an NEC member like this. Wayne obviously produced a report at the meeting, which he had prepared beforehand, yet Del had no opporunity to examine it or provide his own evidence to counter it. Now Whittaker must have planned this some time in advance to invite Wayne along and have him produce a report. This was an unannounced addition to the meeting agenda. Hence he must have deliberately chosen to keep Del in the dark - i.e. a deliberate ambush. Is that the kind of behaviour you expect from your party leadership, regardless of what you think of Del? This isn't Wayne's fault either - he wasn't to know, presumably, that Whittaker was keeping it secret. One might suggest that courtesy would dictate that he should have sent Del a copy beforehand, but it looks like relations had broken down too much by that point perhaps.

As a member of the Youth Council I would like to state that I, personally, always found Del to be professional and great mentor who always helped me with my ideas and gave me nothing but support.

Jeez..................isn't it about time people learned that 'professional' means being business like and working to common objectives, whilst 'teamwork' means putting differences aside and working well alongside people that you don't otherwise get on with.
It's not possible, I think, for anyone here to apportion blame. I've always got on OK with Del and I think I've met Wayne once or twice. Both seem capable individuals who together could have taken this thing forward. maybe - and I'm out on a limb here - they should consider that they have BOTH been set up in some fashion. ANOTHER OWN GOAL FOR UKIP. Country to save? I'm not even sure they could save stamps.

I said at the start that the wrong people were heading ukip youth, i did not mean Del but i will now reveal that i was meaning Wayne HArling.
My whole experience of Wayne is that he will throw his toys out of his pram when he does not get what he wants, like asked to take part in a seperate forum to discuss the youth movement. I said at the start that we needed elected leaders and elected council of the youth movement and because no-one was elected is partly the reason why we find ourselves in the current position. |
