Apparently Ashley Mote is a free man today, has resumed his role as an MEP and has already lodged an appeal to avoid repaying the money that he stole from us (tax payers).

Ashley Mote is on HDC, Home Detention Curfew (tag) until 18th January 2008. He is not allowed out between certain hours of the evening and morning and therefore has not fully returned to his duties as MEP. If he attends any evening meetings he is in breach of his parole and could be returned to prison.
He might well have lodged an appeal, but the fact of the appeal is not a proof of his innocence. The jury found him guilty of a substantial number of charges based on the evidence placed before them. The burden of proof was beyond reasonable doubt. AM, through his very expensive solicitors, is resisting my litigation. I am taking him to the Small Claims Court where costs are not claimable. He is running up a phenomenal bill. Last time I took him to court for a statutory demand he lost £6700+ in his successful attempt to have it struck out. I was demanding less than half that amount. AM is a crook, a thief, a liar - that is the judgement of the Crown Court. It is morally repugnable that he continues to represent us. It is likewise disgusting that he does so with a group of crypto-fascists in the EU Parliament. AM is laughing at the idiots who run Chichester Branch of UKIP and have been looking forward to his return as an ITS member of the EU Parliament - in direct and substantial opposition to UKIP members. G L-W constantly snipes at UKIP MEPs, but never criticises Mote's chicanery. UKIP should put out an edict banning Mote from speaking at UKIP meetings anywhere in the country. AM, IMHO, is an utter disgrace to the country. IMHO he is as good as a traitor to the eurosceptic cause by his continued defiance of the laws of our land. I rarely wish genuine ill or harm to any human being, but I am prepared to make an exception for AM. The sooner he steps under a bus the better it will be for the people of this island.

He won't be going back as an ITS member - it ceased to exist as of today.
from the Europarl website: 14-11-2007 - 14:32 The ITS group in the European Parliament is no more Vice-President of the European Parliament Edward McMillan-Scott (EPP-ED, UK), announced the end of the Identity, Tradition and Sovereignty Group in the European Parliament as they fell below the required number of MEPs (20) needed to form a political group. The announcement was made at the end of the voting session in Strasbourg. Mr McMillan-Scott, who was chairing the sitting, said: "I have today received letters from Mrs Daniela Buruianä-Aprodu and Mr Cristian Stanescu announcing their decision to leave the ITS Group. Parliament takes note of this decision with effect from today, 14 November 2007. Taken together with the announcements already made this week concerning 3 Members leaving the group, I conclude that the number of members of the ITS Group has now fallen below the minimum of 20 Members required to form a political group laid down by Rule 29, paragraph 2. (see link) Parliament therefore takes note of the fact that the ITS Group no longer fulfils the conditions of the Rules of Procedure for the formation of a group. As a consequence, the group ceases to exist with effect from the moment of this announcement." |

Considering how little his sentence has resulted in him being in jail it seems a waste of time altogether. He is not likely to go out at night sourcing drugs or committing burglary so the 'curfew' is hardly a great deterrent to his activity. Fining him his wealth might be a different matter altogether,

Conservatives should not be accepting posts such as Vice-President of the EU 'Parliament'. The UK Conservative Party - if it wishes to be seen as a truly eurosceptic party - cannot both criticise the EU and yet take key positions in the structure of one of its bodies. The more UKIP expose the fact that some 'Conservatives' are co-operating with the EU, the more likely it is that Conservative members/ supporters will switch to UKIP. |

I still can't believe that I was confronted at the Annual Conference by a member of the Chichester Branch (I think) who had a go at me because I called him a moron for wishing Ashley Mote well upon his release and urging him to "continue doing a good job".
