Default UKIP: Europe sets up paramilitary police force

From the official website:

While all eyes are watching the European Constitution summit in Lisbon, a very different treaty has quietly been signed in Holland, where a group of EU countries approved the creation of a European Gendarmerie Force.

Are you joking?

The Police in the UK are a civilian force. Tell me, are you keen on the idea of being subject to military police jurisdiction? Worse than that, subject to the Police force which the UK has no jurisdiction over?

Given the track record some other EU states quasi military police have this is a worrying development , it's bad enough that our own plod have now learnt the lessons from the NuLab spin doctors - the Brazilian electrician photo enhancing for example

The civilian police force is one of the few things this country can claim as a bastion of liberty.

Having looked at the recent posts of " the other view " I have formed the view that the boy/girl is either on something or a complete moron or maybe both.

Glad to see that the EU Soviet is moving all of its chess pieces into place ,it provides the eurosceptics with some good targets .

One of Farage`s better phrases was "it`s got to get worse before it gets better " ,he was of course talking about the EU and it is certainly getting worse and revealing its true colours .Once the Brits wake up to what is happening under the present regime in Brussels and over here we can hope for a shift towards freeing ourselves from the EU and all of her fellow travellors.

Petrina, I'm a little surprised by your rather harsh view of 'Theotherview'. Just because someone doesn't share your/mine/ukips views doesn't make them a moron!

But obviously 'Theotherview' has not considered the implications of a Eurogendarmerie answering to unelected officials! Too much Grauniad reading I suspect!

"Doo dee dumm dee doo! Everything the EU does is wonderfull! No worries there! Dumm deee doo dee dumm!"

Those of us at conference were unerved by the pics of Europlod training with riot gear, gas masks and guns... and of course their little 12 star armbands... their emblem has a sword and burning grenade - says it all, really...

Leave theotherview alone, he might have come on the forum with an odd attitude but he has been extremely open minded.

A force dreamt up by the Portuguese Interior Minister, under the auspices of a treaty only signed by Portugal (though they may have gone to Holland to do it), that only consists of 180 Portuguese National Guards, that only Turkey (not an EU member) is interested in joining with Romania and Lithuania a bit interested in links with, that has an amateur website owned by a Portuguese film writer and that none of the major news services have even heard of.

Sounds to me like something that a serious political party might want to research a bit before making too much of it. In fact the word hoax seems to be forming in my mind for some reason.
