Zero immigration policy: Do you like it?

This is a poll on whether you personally approve of the policy.

Do you think that zero immigration is best for this country?
Do you think that it will cause serious international friction?
Will it negatively impact on British people seeking to move abroad?

I generally feel positive about it. EU immigration since 2004 has been massive. A five year moritorium might assist in integrating those here who want to stay, and send out a message that the time when if you can arrive you can stay has gone. However, I wonder about the status of those who marry British citizens. Though the right to remain is granted too quickly, leading to visa marriages, I presume and very much hope British people would be allowed to bring their spouses home with them under this policy.

Better to get out of EU and send all the EU immigrants home and then address the problem from there.

I don't know why Mr Butcher keeps referring to it as zero immigration, this isn't the policy at all. It is 0 immigration for just years while we sort things out, then fair immigration forever.

Well, it would be zero immigration for the entirety of the next Parliament. That's a very long time. Given that the policy will last the entirety of the 5 years, then any changes after that period are largely irrelevant for the purposes of discussion. If by some miracle UKIP got into government and enacted the policy, then by the time the 5 years was up, it would be fighting a new election with a new set of policies.

In terms of the financial and societal impact (whether good or bad), it will be effectively near-permanent. This country has never had a zero immigration policy as far as I am aware. We are talking about a massive change in the way the country works.

This new policy is the end of the line for me, folks. After 10 years of voting UKIP and occasional bouts of activism, I'm off to support the Liberal Party. Okay, they may be a bunch of sandal-wearing crazies with wobbly views on EU membership, but their hearts are in the right place and at least they aren't trying to compete with the BNP on immigration. Maybe I can persuade them to shave their beards.

(Yes, yes, I know - UKIP's immigration policy is still a long way from that of the BNP. But it is closer to the BNP's policy than any other sizeable party, and that means much too close for me.)
