Default UKIP boss Farage in Telegraph top 50 right wing list but party performance criticised

Mr. Nigel Farage MEP, leader of UKIP, has made into the top 50 on a list of the 100 most influential right wing people in the UK being published this week by the Telegraph - but the Telegraph makes it clear that it is not totally impressed with UKIP's performance over the last year:

(Quote from today's Telegraph section of the list of the top 100 right wingers covering place numbers 50 to 26):

"Charismatic and unfailingly ebullient, Farage was seen as the man to take UKIP onto the next stage. Instead, he’s presided over a Party that has leaked members, is virtually bankrupt and failed in its stated aim to attract large numbers of Tories disaffected by Cameron’s soft approach to hard core issues. If Farage was doing well, he’d be in the top thirty on this list." (End of quote)

The final part of the list - covering place numbers 25 to number 1 - will appear tomorrow.

UKIP members Lord Pearson and Tim Congdon were named in the first part of the list published two days ago (covering place numbers 100 to number 76).

Default Mr. Farage, place number 48 on list

Mr. Farage has been allocated place number 48 on the list, I thought I should add just in case anyone wants to find the entry for him quickly (on the link in the last posting to this thread).

This list lost all credibility when:

39. SHAMI CHAKRABARTI
Director, Liberty

Default Mr. Iain Dale, Conservative candidate, General Election, Telegraph, right wingers

It seems (from the article on the link below) that one of the authors of the Telegraph top 100 list of the most influential right wingers might be Mr. Iain Dale, the former Conservative candidate who stood at the last General Election.

I read Mr. Dale's blog and I am sure he has said that he is not a fan of UKIP. He does, however, support the campaign for an English Parliament within the UK.

You can suggest your own names for the list of the top 100 right wingers at (there are comments from Telegraph website readers after the article):

Sorry to disagree but Shami Chakrabati definitely deserves her place , she is very much on the side of the individual , anti the ever encroaching power of the state and very much in favour of civil liberties .

She has slowly moved towards common sense of late. She used to be too PC, concerned with 'human rights' rather than liberties. But recently she seems to have grasped the concept of liberty.
More importanty she is more respected by the establishment so if anybody was going to influence the agenda in a libertarian direction it is she.

Presumably Iain Dale will have himself in the top 25.
