Default 'Tony' Benn

When I saw her name on the list of the top 100 right wingers, I thought - they'll be putting 'Tony' Benn on it next .

No prizes for guessing who is going to get the number one slot.

Default Chakrabati, Question Time, politically correct BBC, UKIP, MEPs, Brussels

Why is this Chakrabati being allowed to appear as a panellist on Question Time far more times than anyone from UKIP? It is time UKIP complained about this. Her organisation has (I believe) about 8, 000 members (if not less) but is popular with the leftist, politically correct BBC. UKIP has more than double that in members, nearly 3 million votes behind it and a whole team of MEPs in Brussels. UKIP should come before Chakrabati.

I bet she's pro-EU.

That is pretty much in tune with the poll that we took at the end of his first year - the majority of people here thought that his first year had been 'disappointing' or 'terrible'.

I am not sure about the claim that the party has leaked members though. If the party leadership is to be believed (and it possibly isn't), then the membership has remained steady at around 16K - 16.5K. I express some doubt about whether the numbers can be trusted because they claimed that the party had 30,000 members at its peak in 2004, when in fact it was somewhere around 28,000.

Is the Title MEP correct?

Yes, I thought it was a fair assessment of NF.

1. Anthony's point clinches my doubts about her. For the time being I need more evidence of her libertarianism and freedom from leftist political correctness before seeing her as meaningfully on the 'right'.

2. I agree with Millenium3 that the Telegraph summary re Nigel and UKIP is fair comment currently.

Default "UKIP should grow up" writes Iain Dale, Conservative, Mr. Nigel Farage, Blackpool

UKIP "should grow up" writes former Conservative candidate Iain Dale on his blog regarding the text explaining Mr. Nigel Farage's position of place number 48 on the list of the 100 most influential right wingers (published in today's Telegraph).

Mr. Dale has allegedly helped compile the list - the final part of which is to be published in tomorrow's Telegraph. He is not the greatest fan of UKIP according to comments he has made on his blog from time to time.

Nigel Farage MEP (leader of UKIP) has previously appeared on Mr. Dale's interview programme on '18 Doughty Street' (the internet television political discussion channel).

Mr. Dale delivered a short speech to the Conservative Conference in Blackpool this morning.

His "UKIP should grow up" article can be found here (in the section of his blog dated 2.10.200):

Politically speaking, I am sure she is no friend of ours. She is probably a europhile.
