This is not the one where Farage is alleged to have been caught in a lap dancing club is it?

True - the News of the World (NOW) is the best-selling newspaper in the UK. I read that about one in three households in the UK take the News of the World on a Sunday.

More City of London people read the Sun financial page (the Sun, of course, being the 'sister paper' to the NOW) than they do read the europhile Financial Times.

The News of the World and the Sun are both very influential newspapers.

No.

An investigative journalist might use the keywords 'Brothel' 'Gare du Nord' 'Brussels police' '2004'.

And if such a journalist came up with a name, they might then look at who this individual shares a pad with in Brussels....

Any chance of a link instead of a cryptic clue? I couldn't find anything after numerous attempts on Google...

Default News of the world

Surely this is not the old story about Godfrey Bloom-he who wrote at length of his visits to the brothels of Hong Kong- and his generous attempt to escort a black lady to her home in the middle of the night on one of his first visits to Brussels and before he had made appropriate arrangements for his needs-which was somehow misinterpreted by the puritanical Belge police who generously escorted Bloom to a police station where he played the Ashley Mote card of flashing his MEP credentials-read all about it

No it`s not the Bloom story that has been circulating for months it`s something far more wide ranging than that and has already been discussed /alluded to on this forum some time ago .
However it has come to nothing so we can assume that there is nothing of substance which can be substantiated ,which frankly is a relief is it not ?

You got about 10% of that right....!

The Police involvement might have more to do with an unpaid bill in a brothel about an hour after the event you refer to...

Default Prime Minister Gordon Brown, News of the World, C2 voters, General Election

As the News of the World has been mentioned in this thread I just thought I would add that I understand that Prime Minister Gordon Brown has written an article to be published the mass-circulation News of the World tomorrow - a newspaper read by many C2 voters (i.e. those in the category who help determine what the results are in many key marginal constituencies).

There is speculation from some that he has written the article just as he may be about to call a General Election.
