Default Young Independence launch meeting falsely announced

Just read some more of this newsletter, is this really what happened at the UKIP Young Independence launch?

4 people!

"Young Independence Launch a report by Bernard Smith
The national launch of the ‘Young Independence Group’ was held at the Waterside Inn in Stockbridge Road, Chichester on 1st August. The launch was a disappointment in that only four Young Independents attended; Delroy Young – who has overall responsibility for youth matters – was unavailable on that day and had sent his apologies when the date was first mooted. It had been decided to press ahead with the meeting rather than change the date, partly because Nigel Farage had said he would be there. He subsequently cancelled attending (in a very roundabout way) 24 hours before the launch, due to a meeting with the Editor of the Daily Express. Steve Harris, the South East Counties Organiser deputised for Nigel. Bernard is pleased to report that local youth member Rory Lewis was elected Secretary of Youth Independence. "

Oh dear.

That was an informal meeting, NOT a grand launch as has been presented there. Those who set it up from Young Independence knew this well ahead of time and that informal meeting went as planned.

Last weekend myself, the Youth Council and some of the mentors (including Del Young) met up in Birmingham for what was our first official meeting.
