There is no doubt that NF is good on TV and in situations like this. However this is a stunt - it is news for a very short time and then forgotten.

What else is needed:

Policies which are popular with the majority.

Someone who will encourage the activists by listening to them - taking note of their concerns - helping them to overcome these difficulties.

That is to say - getting the best from people who are prepared to spend hours of their spare time fighting the cause - unpaid.
