I agree with you Steve, that more needs to be done to get the message across to many voters of the dangers of the EU to our nation - the huge cost to each voter of EU membership; the hold the EU has over our national Parliament; the harm it does to our economy and the dangers of the EU military wing now under construction.

The Eurosceptic movement is fragmented because it wants to be that way .Big fish ,small pools .
Hopefully we are beginning to swim into a much larger pool where we can have lots more fish and we will start to see the minnows led by the genuinely big fish . Keep swimming . |

It is split into many groups for good reason. We don't hate the EU for no good reason, we hate it for what it is and what it does. Therefore, what replaces it is equally important.
I would not join with the BNP because the post-EU Britain would be a hellhole. I would not join with the EDP because I do not agree with many of their policies. I would be wary of joining with the Conservatives because I am not a social authoritarian.

That does worry me. Yesterday I was talking to the sister of a friend who I hadn't seen for 32 years, she said to me "I don't know anything about politics but I know we should not leave the EU because we'll be isolated and we're too small to stand alone" and she would not accept anything I said to the contrary!

Agree with you Britannist this push for EU in or out vote by Ming is a political ruse to not only distance Lib/Dems from Cons and Lab but make the anti-EU parties panic just a little bit. It's not just Brown who can manipulate honest politics.
But, let's face it, neither Cameron nor Brown would dare go to the country on this issue. People now distrust politicians so much that the mere fact that the big three shout support for staying in will send voters rushing to the polls to vote out. This is not a time for the anti-EU parties to bottle out and shout 'too early'! Now's the time to stand up and get on the band wagon - the majority of Britons want a vote (whether or not they want in or out) so our duty is to supprt them. It will stand us all in good stead later. |
