Anthony! Can it be that you suspect he was pushed, rather than that he jumped of his own volition?

No, I have no reason to think that. It just doesn't look like it was a working relationship and if someone has to go, it isn't going to be the party leader.

I wonder also if his resignation is entirely unconnected to the announcement on 29 August that the Electoral Commission has lodged an appeal re the forfeiture of Alan Bown's donations? We don't know when Bruce Lawson resigned, only that the information was given to the NEC on Monday 10th September - presumably at their meeting. Be interesting to see if Andrew Smith takes it on again.

The words 'poisoned chalice' spring to mind. In the current situation nobody in his right mind would take on UKIP's books.

A little knowledge is a dangerous thing, perhaps that could be the new name for this forum, or 'the rumour mill' as the whinge brigade on here love nothing more than taking a bit of a rumour and building it into a great big negative 'fact'. Or perhaps there are just far too many conspiracy theorists on here. Why doesn't somebody on here contact the Party Chairman, or even Bruce Lawson, to get their side, obviously there will be little acceptance of any official statement.

I expect that for a lot of former UKIP people who post here, the phrase: "once bitten, twice shy" will spring to mind.

There aren't many whingers on this Board, as it happens. And most of those moaners are UKIP *Loyalists* anyway.

Yet someone has to, for UKIP to continue as a registered political party. That puts whoever risks it into quite a strong bargaining position, I should think.

Whether you believe that NF is the saviour of the Party or a leader leading it to its demise - each member has the right to decide this for themselves.

What should be kept in mind is that for UKIP to achieve its primary aim of getting the UK out of the EU it has, at least, to replace the Lib/Dems as the third largest party. If this is achieved the criticism he recieves on this small forum will be as nothing compared to the criticism he would then recieve in the press and other media outlets with regard to policies, his private life and the way he manages the Party.

NF should be humbly grateful to those of us who, from time to time, make some minor criticism of him - for it prepares him for what he thinks is his future.

That's what forums are for - discussion. Everyone here knows what is fact and what is supposition. The purpose of these discussions is to share ideas and get to the truth of matters, if possible. People present all sides of it and then we each get to make up our own minds about it. If you don't like what is being said then put a counter argument in to redress the balance.
