Thumbs down

Was this s'posed to be a big announcement/development because if so it's woeful!! Really drab and cold (the yellow and purple was distinctive), more akin to a pharmaceutical company. And crucially, no substance and not updated at all - 'Top New Stories' from over a month ago... pretty embarassing!

The graphics are grainy (gif artifacts!) the colours are not the ones used previously, nor by most of the rest of the party and on the subject of branding, I notice they're using the "Independence" brand - odd, considering we were told we couldn't rename the party that.

The favicon is, as someone else pointed out, the default Joomla one.

As modern UKIP points out they're using a free content management system - nothing wrong with that but I hope that the party didn't pay MM for it.

The accessibility options only work if you have JavaScript turned on - and some of the people who'll need them are likely not to have JavaScript on!

The layout is somewhat odd for a major website - which our national website should be. The focus is strange.

On the validation - it's valid HTML but using the transitional doctype (no excuse for not using strict), but not semantic. There's a lot of inline style, and inline script, and there's a CSS file missing.

It's much, much better but still a long way from being the modern website that it should be.

That is true. It is not worth £5k. But it is an improvement on what was there before. Still lacking something though. Not sure what.

I think that it is a big improvement over the old one. Yes it is a free template run by free software, but then that is probably a good idea, if it means that there will be free updates to the software. I presume that £5K will have gone on the time it took to move all of the content across. It doesn't seem an unreasonable price to pay.

I say "well done".

However, they seem to have missed off a link to this forum from the 'Useful Links' section though.
