It does seem the best hope for UKIP, but their going to have to break NF's fingers if they hope to get him to let go his grip of the party.

I don't think it's possible to be honest. Even if it was, I question what can be acheived now.

I agree it would be very difficult - unless NF decides that leadership puts him too much in the spotlight and that he would prefer his former role.

I don't think the past would be too damaging to a new regime. Most of what has happened relates to individuals - not the Party. A fresh start is quite possible.

Really? There was I thinking that some of those people had already had a chance to change the party: at least one of them has been Chairperson and apparently couldn't hack it.

And, I'm afraid that if these people are the ones who represent "the membership" that the party is to be returned to, I'd rather leave. If I wanted to be in a party run by a bunch of mostly-Christian, social authoritarians then I'd join the Conservative Party.

UKIP is the biggest collection of individuals (some say nutters) I have ever known. Thus some are like as you say, but the objective of that groups isn't to become the new leaders and impose the style you suggest.

If it was, then I too would run a mile.

It is about getting the party to actually start acting like a party and having some real organisation. At the moment it is floundering, at a time when it should be making hay.

That is true, of course. And, as I said when standing for election, that is what the NEC should be doing. Ultimately, nothing is going to happen until this court case is sorted out.

But then we should be looking at communication across the country; having the same kind of healthy debate that the Conservatives are having.

A preferred route for me would be to find a backer for a ConservativeHome style site, where we could all debate the issues and would act as a centre point for proper mobilisation right across the board.
