MEP selection process for 2009

Will the current MEPs (bar the obvious Kilroy Mote etc) be reselected for 2009? Or will the leadership go for something different?

I would hope it is for the members to decide who will represent the party. Therefore there should be by regions, members proposing candidates and a selection ballot system.

I have heard Nigel say to an audience in the south east that ALL MEPs will be up for re-selection. The lists will be elected on a one-member, one-vote basis from all those putting themselves forward.

Yes. Of course there are only so many spaces for the regional lists so if lots of people run it would be tricky to get near the top.

It would certainly be good fun to be a UKIP MEP - being able to stand up and lay into the institution from inside with 700 or so MEP's eyes glaring at you!! I think we definitely need some new, younger, blood in Brussels - people who have not had the stuffing knocked out fo them and who are prepared to throw themselves into it.

I wouldn't even turn up any more than I had to. You would see the word contempt redefined if I went anywhere near that place.

In fact, I would wear a clowns outfit everytime I attended it.
