I wasn't knocking it, just stating that it hasn't made the mainstream news. There are small mentions here and there, but it hasn't become a story in its own right.

For example, right at the end of a long Express article it says:
Quote:
UK Independence Party leader Nigel Farage narrowly escaped arrest outside the summit in Brussels last night – for being in possession of an inflatable bulldozer.

His offence was failing to have authorisation to stage a protest in a special “zone of free expression” specially earmarked for demonstrators a short distance from the summit meeting.

The inflatable bulldozer – made in Latvia for £7,000 – was to represent Britain being bulldozed into a federal Europe. But no sooner had UKIP officials inflated it than police moved in and confiscated it.
Not exactly brilliant coverage, especially given its slightly mocking tone. It's not bad, since most publicity is good publicity, but I wouldn't be patting myself on the back for it just yet.

Plus my fiirst thought on reading that was "who the hell paid £7k for an inflatable bulldozer?". Tax payers? UKIP members?

I don't mean to have a moan, I was just expecting something slightly more.

I was quite shocked reading the story on the UKIP website though - I think that it could do with more 'motivational' material like that. Perhaps more of a newspaper style is required?

I guess the definition of free needs explaining to someone.

Free, free to do as with tell you, if we let you.

Just out of interest, was UKIP unaware that it needed a permit to inflate the thing, or was a deliberate choice made to not apply so that the police would be forced to act, thus creating a story?

If the latter, it might have been worth while finding some UKIP members willing to be arrested over it. I am sure that there would be plenty of volunteers for the cause.

And why not start using some hidden cameras on these protests? It would be far more effective to release a video of the police being unreasonable. Embrace the new media.

That would involve the dreaded internet, Tony. You can't really think they'd even consider doing that?
