That's putting party loyalty before country. If I had been awake back then, I would have supported the team with the most clout, the Referendum party.

UKIP was the stubbon little mule of a party, that instead of getting behind the one party with all the resources and clout, decided to turn the whole thing into a farce.

The stubbon little mule seems to have done ok for itself in comparrison though has it not? I dont think we will agree on this one or the queen.

I do agree with you Matt about the absence of figures speaking out in the way you suggest, but I cannot agree with your assertion that the Ueen should act in the way you describe you are turning her role into something it is not.

We have had more than enough diastrous consitituional change in the last 10 years and I have to say whilst I respect your view I think what you are proposing would lead to more.

Is the monarchy relevant? I dispute that it costs us 'peanuts' - that impression results from clever accounting. The Eu leaves the apparent symbols of Britain intact while taking over the important bits. So we enjoy laughing at the Royal Family or looking at Morris dancers and sing the Union Jack occasionally whilke we have an energy, rubbish an fod crisis while all our pwer an welth is sentvto Brussells. Let's concentrat on the ral problems.

No but the test of someones character is how they respond to it that is what leads to trust, I suspect both you and I have told a few porkys in our time and I suspect we are still trusted by people because we have learnt from our mistakes.

Evidently it still is realvant as the vast majority of the people still wish to see it in place.

I dont spend time laughing at the Royal family, well except Princess Micheal of Kent I respect the insitution and have enomous affection for the royals for the hard work that they do.

We have a fantastic monarch long may she reign and she will be succeded by the Prince of Wales who I know has been the subject of much riddicule but is a deeply caring and compasionate man who wants to serve this country, oh and I think his wifes a jolly good sort as well, shame he married the other one first.

Only because the bloke (convieniently for the EU) died. If he was still alive, I doubt UKIP would be around now.

The Referendum party even achieved a quick MP. Goldsmith dying set back the anti-EU movement decades.

Charles is a disaster and his friends are all one worlders. Plus, anyone who would choose Camel-la over Diana must be a pervert.

Well we shall see when the time comes persuming his mother does not outlive him and that you and i are still arround. Personally I must be a pervert because I prefer a steady woman who would actually care about me as opposed to a parniod bullumic who when she felt wronged tried to bring down the monarchy.

Actually whilst the Referendum party could quite easily been the kisso f death for UKIP I doubt it would have had much more success becuase you dont win elections on one issue. i would trumpet the late George Gardner too much he only joined because the Torys deselcted him like Gorman, Gill and the like who quit the Torys once they had left Parlaiment and then joined UKIP.
