If they removed the peanuts bit, then I think they would gain more popularity, back to levels seen in the past.

You will always have some people demanding they be stripped of everything, but that should be outweiged as long as the Monarchy does bring in tourism etc.

Personally I would like to see them pass comments on what the government are doing in their name sometimes.

Well of course they are only able to that in the most coded terms, and do we really want them involved in politics, I mean it is a very sordid and disgusting business. Better leave the queen as a widely respected and much loved figurehead whom the nation can rally around as opposed to geeting involved in areas of division.

The removal of the peanut cost is already in motion and the Monarchy are regaining their popularity.

Regardless of what is put out by some, generally, the Monarchy is looked on by the main population as being beneficial and rewarding to the country, which they undoubtedly are.

Removing the Monachy from our landscape would render the country more touristicaly uninteresting than a rock in the ocean.

Passing comments on the Government could drive a real attack on either, depending on whatever the Government or Monarchy said or did.

Certain parts of our countries Worldwide image is already a result of the Monarchy and other parts are the result of the present and former Governments.

Thats what makes this country so interesting,it's British History is admired by most countries and envied by a handfull, both here and abroad.

The anti-Monarchy types stick their heads up above the parapet every so often, suppose it makes a change,( from having them stuck up somewhere else that I wont go into on here).

The Monarchy isn't just a tourist attraction {commenced in the 19th century to make it more popular} the Queen is top of the tree - she 'own's' parliament and all who sail in her.

Last point ... Regina v Regina (appt Ian C approx 1995) set precedent that I was not one of her royal subjects. Not been tested at Strasbourg though.

Still think she should say something when Blair makes her sign the death warrants for Britain.

I can see where you are coming from but how would you have her say it when she is not supposed to be seen to be in conflict with government policy.
