So do I.

Just because we are saying we would call a referendum does not mean it is not still our principal aim to leave the EU.

If we don't allow a referendum then we are in the same position as Major's government which would have claimed that the Maastricht Treaty was supported by the people simply because they had voted his government into power. In reality when voting for a party you are usually voting for a raft of policies.

Nothing wrong in the principle of holding referenda, naturally.

But if a referendum is used by [UKIP] Government simply as a means to procrastinate [or worse], then I would not support it.

Direct Action would be better.

It is the first duty of Government to defend the People from outside Aggressors.
You don't need to hold a Referendum to defend the British people from the EU.

Or maybe some in UKIP haven't a Clue what the EU is about, dare I ask?

Default UKIP require a referendum!

I find this thread surprising. Some UKIP members of this forum have been giving the English Democrats real grief because we dared to say that we should have a referendum to validate our quitting the EU. If I understand it correctly, this is the same policy as UKIP's.

With news that your Mr Farage has turned into a pussycat and is signing up to EU bedrock policies such as the CAP, and subsidiarity, some might begin to wonder about your anti-EU credentials.

Relax - just kidding...

Yes it is the same policy as UKIP's - copied word for word from the UKIP 2005 Manifesto!

Fascinating as these policy discussions are the fact is that Nigel and others have "got previous "for changing our policy on core issues when it suits them to do so because of money in the previous case , and in this particular case ,according to Roger, career ,offices and dosh.

Next week should be of interest!
