I'm quite happy to allow unfettered smoking in my pub, so long as someone agrees to pay the fines. Otherwise, we'll be open for about 4 days and then bankrupted.

The smoking ban is the one good thing this government has done! My last few trips abroad have been to places where they have smoking bans (Canada, New York, Norway) and it's fantastic! Roll on 1st July!

Lies, damned lies. No one has yet to tell me anything that's wrong with the current system of segregated sections for smoking and non-smoking. Anyone who stands for real free markets knows that the market provides where there's demand.

Jamie is just echoing what most British people are like. They are all a little bit fascist for their own preferences and ways.

Im not trying to put you out of business, the point it to apply pressure to get the ban repealed.

it don't seem to be working though cos no-one has signed up. the bbc will not want to cover something that hasn't got any support so come on give us your support or are you all apathetic and agree with one of the girls at the stables where I keep my horse and just give up and crawl into the corner.

Matt I will be looking for a spokesman to front it on tele!!!

That is as maybe but the French are ignoring the ban on smoking indoors.

Bars, cafés, restaurants and nightclubs have until January 2008 to implement the ban.

The real fascists are the smokers who inflict their habit on other people without consideration for their feelings, their clothes or their health.

I repeat, where is the freedom for non-smokers?

My objection to smoking is a Libertarian one, I don't want fag smoke and I object to landlords making their smoke filled pubs ''no-go'' areas for people like me.

If we stop people by law from smoking cannabis and heroin - strange that the ''freedom to smoke'' arguments don't apply here, I wonder why not - I don't see why nicotine should be any different.

Segregated areas don't work, they are still smokey. Many air conditioning systems are inefficient and don't properly clear all the smoke, while air -freshners mask the stink, not remove it.

The market does reflect consumer tastes - the majority of the population is non-smoking and outside the smoke-filled pubs, so it is the ''stick in the mud'' landlords who are losing out. If they excercised a little private enterprise and started selling food they would make more money, as quite a few landlords have already discovered.

Unfortunately the deluded fag addicts are too stubborn and sanctimonius to see this, and they are the losers.
