Not to me it isn't. I want to hear what the King or Queen bellieves, as long as they don't try and force their way. I hate the thought of people being gagged.
Yes i understand that but that does mean making the monarch a political figure, should a monarch for instance have the right to veto a European Treaty passed by a democratically elected parliament.

Do we want our head of state taking political decisions.

I know people get frustrated with the Queen for not speaking out but the way her role is currently constructed prevents it. Literally she is not supposed to say good morning without refering to a bit of paper first.

Charles could decide to reject what he is 'supposed to do' and say enough's enough with the surrender of British sovereignty.

However, currently even if he did that (pretty unlikely!) it is questionable how far he would get popular support.

I suppose he must have enough mates at the top of the army to seize Whitehall and the BBC. What a wonderful prospect.

Burglars steal Prince's letters attacking EU
By Daniel Foggo Last Updated: 10:11pm BST 18/05/2002

Special Branch is investigating the theft of confidential letters written on the Prince of Wales's behalf to an MEP, in which the heir to the throne is said to express strong anti-EU sentiments.

The Prince's lack of support for European legislation is clear in the letters. Prince Charles is known to hold reservations privately about Britain's involvement in Europe, and he was recently reported to have told a dinner party guest that he would not mind if Britain left the EU completely.

He has also lamented that the building of the Channel Tunnel has left Britain no longer an island.
A most useful posting from SponPlague. A great big thank you to Spon Plague for that.

Cut and pasted with the information in it to be used in the fight against the EU. I shall be sending a copy of this article in the Telegraph to a number of anti-EU campaigners.

Our nation is on "very dangerous ground" as it is, far more dangerous than any breach of Royal protocol.

I remember this story when it first emerged five years ago, and was encouraged. I am deeply disappointed that he has not repeated these statements on the record.
