Default Lord Carey, Lord Tonypandy and the EU

I don't think former Archbishop of Canterbury Lord Carey, in his position as a senior figure in the Church of England, could really join any political party.

It would be nice if it turned out that Lord Carey were eurosceptic and anti-EU, though.

I always remember ex-Labour MP George Thomas, the former Speaker of the House of Commons, warning about the dangers of the EU when he became Lord Tonypandy.

.
Britannist, my posting was supposed to be a joke, a very small one I admit. I would think "Hell" has more chance of freezing over than Lord Carey joining UKIP!

Yes, I know you were joking - but I just thought I would point out that Lord Carey could speak out against the EU if he wanted to but might not be able to join a political party.

Default Sayeeda Warsi comments on rejected asylum seekers and work

News today of Sayeedi Warsi, the Conservative Vice Chairman who appeared on BBC 1 Television Question Time last week along with UKIP leader Nigel Farage MEP, who now says that rejected asylum seekers in the UK should be allowed to "do limited work" :x :
