Default NEC elections

This sounds like something I can support.

looks good to me :!: When are the NEC elections by the way?
I don't suppose there is much Dennis can say if his complaint is ongoing.

They look an alright bunch, but Chris Mounsey still has my support.

I've never been too keen on Abbott either, the page says that he and Delroy Young are the only independent minded people on the NEC, Delroy is actually doing lots for the party, he's working damn hard on the UKIP Youth organisation. Abbott seems to be lacking in Delroy's substance.

You won't hear much about David Abbott because the Leadership want him out so they can carry on doing whatever they want without any discussion. Thank heavens for independent minded people.

DAVID F. ABBOTT, MD, MRCP

I have served on the NEC for one year. During this time four stalwart NEC members have resigned because of concerns about leadership.

With the exception of Del Young and myself, those who remain almost always agree with the leadership. There is very little genuine debate in the NEC. Del and I ask difficult questions, but we do not often get answers.
Our questions are dismissed or jeered at.

Democracy and a successful organization require committed people who are willing to debate and discuss issues. Debate is the life of a democratic party. Debate is something we complain is lacking in the EU.

Our membership numbers are said to be rising, but we are losing many upstanding men and women. Our by-election results are pathetic despite or perhaps because of recent publicity.

With my experience on the NEC I suggest we implement 10 action points to turn our party around:

1) Establish verifiable agreements with our MEPs as to how their salaries and expenses are accounted for, as well as details of all their employees.

2) Obtain a full explanation from Tom Wise MEP with resignation if necessary.

3) Obtain a full audit of Ashford and establish verifiable accounting procedures for the Party and any associated organisations.

4) Obtain a full explanation of the disallowed Alan Bown donations.

5) Create a courteous and cooperative attitude toward all our members and colleagues, especially the activists who have worked so hard over the years.

6) Initiate a rapprochement with all the competent capable people who have left the party in disgust with the leadership. These include party secretaries, NEC members, branch chairmen, regional committee members, and researchers. If these people were to rejoin the party, we would have much of the professionalism that our leader says he wants.

7) Support UKIP Youth, which is an initiative of Del Young. I note that so far few MEPs have made the requested £500 donation to UKIP Youth.

8) Establish a proper training programme for activists, including media training, so that we are seen as more than a one-man band.

9) Develop and publicise clear policies on Islam, immigration, defence and health.

10) Hold the leadership of the party to the ethical standards of its members.

Please look at the website that I edit, BRITS AT THEIR BEST.COM. You will see that I am not a xenophobe or a racist, but a Christian and a patriot.

Freedom and democracy did not just happen. Our ancestors fought for them and against the prevailing human condition of living under the thumb of dictators and tyrants.

A similar battle for freedom, democracy, transparency, accountability, and probity is being fought in our party. Please help by voting for the three candidates on this website and other reform candidates.

Why does UKIP need clear policies on Islam?

Quite the recipe for party unity there, eh?

And nice to see Abbott undeterred by the MSM's assault too. That'll keep us in the public eye, eh?

Can you imagine Foggo's next article? "Despite this revelations by this paper that he donated money to a BNP-affiliated organisation, the UKIP party membership has re-elected David Abbott to high office within the party under the "Grassroots" slogan, leading to allegations that racism is endemic within party's supporters..."

Mind you, Foggo, if you're reading this, I'll be keeping an eye on your articles for plagiarism... ;-)

Even if we are generous enough to accept David's explanation for his donation to the BNP (and I for one find it somewhat lacking in credibility) it should be obvious to anyone that his continued presence on the NEC can only damage the party.

Hmm. What about those who used to be in New Britain? Do we hound them too? From Wikipedia:
Quote:
The New Britain Party (NBP) is a minor political party in the United Kingdom, which was founded in 1977. It has been led since its inception by Dennis Delderfield, a newspaper owner.
The NBP is anti-immigration and has been described as an "avowedly racist party" by The Observer (May 2001), with longstanding links to 'Rhodesian' organisations promoting apartheid, such as the Springbok Club. A very minor force, the NBP briefly hit the headlines in 1980 when it absorbed the anti-immigration United Country Party, which had been chaired by TV astronomer Patrick Moore.
During the early 1990s, the party emphasised its opposition to the European Union, which probably helped to win it the support of the magazine This England, and attracted several figures who later became prominent in larger anti-EU parties.
Mike Nattrass, an MEP for the United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP) was once a member of the NBP, and stood for it in the Dudley West by-election of 1994, attracting a mere 146 votes. His fellow UKIP MEP Jeffrey Titford was also briefly a member.
The NBP are overall largely conservative, even reminiscent of the early League of Empire Loyalists. In 2004, the NBP stated that it would not run candidates against Conservatives who were running for any election on a Eurosceptic platform. The party publishes New Britain magazine from time to time.
