I would make the following two observations, which I have passed on to Manic Monday:

1) The candidates are not listed alphabetically
2) My website details have been omitted

Additionally:

3) All Candidates for this year`s NEC Election were told to submit a Personal Statement of up to a maximum of 150 words.
This is clearly stated on the Nomination Form and in the January 2007 edition of Independence News - page 19.
The word count for each Candidate`s Statement is as follows:

David Abbot - 149
Denis Brookes - 145
Elizabeth Burton - 136
David Campbell Bannerman - 144
George Curtis - 148
Chris Gill - 149
Paul Henke - 262
Geoffrey Kinscott - 148
Bryan McCormack - 140
Toby Micklethwait - 135
Christopher Mounsey - 149
Stephen Povey - 137
John Pratt - 150
Jill Seymour - 154
Andrew Smith - 149
Jason Smith - 150
John West - 156

Yawn. And DCB first on the list.

UKIP situation normal.

No embarrasing typo's though this time, AFAIK.

Following my email to Manic Monday, the NEC page has been amended.

Seems being on the NEC has a little bit of clout after all...

Default NEC elections

Sorry for taking so long to answer the posts from Richard Allen and Tom Wilde. I've been a bit busy this past week.
Bryan has very many talents. He is a very good orator and debator, writer and we have him to thank for our original Scottish Fishing Leaflet. We would like to use his talents to help our cause but he has decide to do his own thing, to plough his own furrow.
To give everyone the background to this, last year when UKIPScotland started the selection of lead candidates for the Regions of Scotland he was not selected for the Region he lives, South of Scotland in or the next region of West Scotland. He was offered the second slot for the West of Scotland but informed the UKIPScotland Chairman that he was not going to play second fiddle to anyone. At that time the only vacancy left was for the Highlands & Islands which he eventually agreed to take.
Shortly after this reports filtered back that Bryan was complaining to other NEC members about being palmed off with the H & I and he couldn't cover an area he didn't know. After discussion with the UKIPScotland Chairman Bryan stood down as the H & I lead candidate.
At this years Feb & March NEC meetings he informed the NEC that UKIPscotland had done nothing in preparation for the forthcoming Holyrood elections, had no plan or strategy and were not worth the parties support. As he has not attended a UKIPScotland meeting this year, which he is entitled to as chairman of the Ayr Branch, his only information comes from the minutes (which are also sent the Party Leader and Chairman). If he had attended our meetings, which he is also invited to as an NEC Member, he would find out about what is really happening, much more than the minutes can tell.
Following this back stabbing from a person we were happy to support in last years election we decided to seek an alternative candidate for this years elections. We know that this might split potential voters and we could lose having a Scottish member on the NEC but it is a price we are prepared to pay.

PS. I see in his post of Thu 29 Mar he complains about the number of words use in the election statements by NEC candidates but conveniently forgets his own page and a half of propaganda in the latest editon of Independence

I think that it's a little off that was have articles from four of the NEC candidates in this issue of Independence: Christopher Gill, Toby Micklethwait, Bryan McCormack and David Campbell-Bannerman.

Default Website

Just to let you know, the order in which the names went up on the website was as they arrived to me (as in in the order they arrived to head office I believe). I sent them over to Manic Monday and they went up verbatum. When Bryan pointed out that they were not alphabetical, then of course they were changed.
Just to let you know, it matters not if the pointer came from a member of the NEC, a member of the party or just an interested observer, it would have have been changed forthwith. Sorry about that.
Mea Culpa.
