Default UKIP safe - NEC liable for Electoral Commission fines.

If I am reading this right then UKIP does not have to worry about Electoral Commssion fines as the burden will fall on NEC members (past and present?). Clarification anyone?

A The possibility of UKIP being a Ltd. company needs to be looked at again. We could also transfer the responsibility to a finance committee.

It's been known for a number of years that the structure of the party leaves NEC members liable for any debts it incurs. They're idiots for not having transferred the risk before now... DCB was also asked the question of liability during the leadership campaign:

As Chairman, I have initiated our Legal adviser on the NEC, Michael Zuckerman, to work with the Treasurer Bruce Lawson to seek incorporation of UKIP as a company limited by guarantee to address this point. This is already in hand, and reports on progress will be given to the NEC and to members. It does seem sensible that members of the NEC do not carry direct personal liability.

So UKIP are safe and sound then.

And each of the 15 members of the NEC are personally liable for £24,613.13 each?

So UKIP won't be made bankrupt - the NEC will?

Safe or not, this is still a major move by the EU to destroy the party. By the sounds of this their plot has failed. Tofine UKIP for something as stupid as this, a genuine mistake, but hey the EC will just ignore the cash for honors, afterall Labor are europhiles who agree with their masters. This is a further sign that democracy is being eroded in this country by corrupt officals.

There are only ten elected members of the NEC at the moment, so it is more than that. I imagine a few people might think twice before putting themselves forward for election now though

Are you sure of the link between the EU and the British Electoral Commission? I am not so convinced of a grand conspiracy here.

I think that the cash for honours inquiry is still going on, but you will probably be proved right on that point.

Has anybody asked if past UKIP NEC members will also be held personally liable?

Possibly for some of them, except that the NEC was never informed of any donations.

The NEC was a bit like a secret society in which the members were not informed of any secrets.
