Default IndependenceHome.org and local sites

I'm starting a new topic so that I don't have to spam around every thread!

In order to try and help local branches, I am allocating each branch a section on IndependenceHome.org: if someone could sign up there with the username "ukip_[your branchname]", I will implement your page (which will be a blog style page so that you can put up news, etc.), I'll add your branch as a group (so that you can't accidentally stuff the site and no one else can muck around with your pages) and put a link to your current site up there.

In other news, if they got the stuff in time (Comms gave me a very short deadline), you should see IndependenceHome.org profiled in the coming issue of Independence News...

I'm already signed up. Can you make me a Woking section, but use my existing name?

Just a few thoughts. In my experience, there is now't worse when trawling the web for information than being directed to websites and more recently "Blogs" that are rarely updated. :x So if you are going to add a blog in your branch's name then keep it up to date or risk advertising general apathy.... :tumble: This forum has for example a blog section. Have a look if you want to know what I mean. Many of the actual regional UKIP websites are out of date and therefore bad adverts for your branch. If there's not enough news for your branch site I'd say don't start a blog in the name of your branch! For that matter, how is it being regulated. Is there a "UKIP Woking" for example. I tried to search UKIP.org but couldn't find one. Is this a new branch or just a secret one?

On the other hand, blogs can be informative and fun if maintained. So GOOD LUCK with your venture.

I agree with most of your thoughts there, WYM. However, as regards UKIP Woking blog

http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=UKI...ient=firefox-a

First result, keywords UKIP Woking.

Oh absolutely, yes. The main UKIP site is very poor for a 2007 website.
It is being redesigned at the moment though, so hopefully it'll be up to scratch soon.

Default Illiberalism and libertarianists

Another non-veiled off-hand attack on Christians

Quote:
The spat over gay adoption seems to have brought out the worst in everyone, mainly because people are conflicted: many people are disgusted to find themselves siding with the government and many libertarians, who think that religion in general (and the Catholic Church in particular) is completely stupid, find themselves having to spring to the defence of religious nutters.

However, leaving aside whether or not the Catholic adoption agencies are receiving money from the government (and thus must expect to lose their autonomy), the philosophical point seems quite simple to me..
So says "Devils Kitchen" the owner of Independencehome .org

We (UKIP) now have another self appointed mouthpiece and saviour who will save ukip from itself. He is found regularly claiming to be a "Liberatarian" whilst making well reasoned statements such as the above. Catholic Church = "completely stupid" and "religious nutters"

When I was in my formative years, the Liberatarians I met were more considered and moderate realizing that caustic and provocative comments only served to alienate people destroy unity in a party and make dialogue impossible.

The liberatrians that infest UKIP have been consistent down the years in that whilst being most outspoken they have been consistently vacuous. The speed with which they insult and dismiss people who don't see eye to eye with them makes them akin to fascists not libertarians.

Where do they come from :?:

Is this just me? or do others see this irritating tendency :?:

I think you are being a bit uptight. Libertarians are the least of your worries. Many of them may not be religious, some are though. Even the ones who aren't believe in your absolute right to believe in what you want, even if they don't believe in it themselves. The fact they want to voice THEIR opinion on religion in general, is their right. You can either ignore them, or argue why you think they are wrong.

They certainly aren't fascists.

Uptight Eh? No Matt, No

I have a living out of Christianity I often get the benefit of such peoples opinions (yawn) it is one of the perks of the Job.

My beef is the intent ie to provoke, to ridicule.

My own position is one of complete civil and religious liberty. (that since 1970's)

Perhaps the way of the modern libertarian it is just rank ignorance and pure bad manners.

Modern Libertarians = Crypto Fascists, no doubt in my mind!
