Tim Rice: Tories no longer love me

Sir Tim said this was a great relief.

"I can reject Conservative requests for money with no feeling of guilt.

"I've obviously missed the peerage gravy train and need only attend trendy Conservative balls if Bryan Ferry is the cabaret."

He added: "Once you know you are unloved you can move onwards and upwards."

Sounds like Nigel should be giving Mr Rice a shout to me!

Unfortunately in the next section of his diary piece for The Spectator he said that he would still vote conservative.

I'd still give him a shout. He sounds like he could do with some Farage style coffee.

It's the British disease that Mr Rice has. However badly your existing institiutions treat you, you British think you have to stick with them because it is not cricket to desert them. So the Conservative party carries on despite spurning its supporters, it can take them for granted as Labour takes its, Bristih Gas has millions of customers despite other companies charging much less for exactly the same, and British motorists buy Fords and Vauxhalls despite them being American firms making the cars in Spain and Germany. Worst of all British soldiers are sent off to die to keep the Middle East safe for Israel, for reasons of internal USA politics, and all anyone does is blub about it. Foreigners would not stand for all this; they would desert the old parties for UKIP/Green/BNP or whatever seemed better. Tie Rice is not unusual (nor Tom Jones). I do not understand the psychology: pass me some cheese and wine someone.
