I have to ask regarding the 'hatchet job' which part was actually untrue?

Could it have been that the party is financially dodgy? Late accounts, undeclared dontations and question marks over south east accounts and the Ashford issue?

Could it have been the part where an official said "If our HQ was in Birmingham, our supporters wouldn't be so prepared to pop up in their Morris Minors. We can summon up an army of crusties (elderly people) to stuff envelopes. We can whistle up 100 people in 24 hours flat."

Or could it have been the bit about farage reminding someone of Hitler?

The papers have got all the ammo they need. Everytime UKIP appears to move forward, something will come out of the woodwork, wait and see.

And from a newspaper that members were saying was getting more and more pro UKIP - in politics you build em up and knock em down.

UKIP is getting more and more like the tories every day - sleazy, financially incompetant, sex scandals - could this be the real reason for our bye-elections flops? Nobody is going to vote for a wannabe Conservative party in a Labour stronghold are they?

First blog comment I've seen on this:

Quote:
UKIP Funding

Gosh, this is a terrible blow, isn't it? Something from which no political party could be expected to recover:

For instance, Ukip's south-east office received donations of £291,000 in 2004, more than twice as much as the party's head office. Yet some £280,000 did not need to be declared because it consisted of individual donations of less than £1,000 each.

Raising money in small amounts from the citizenry, actually engaging with the concerns of the party members sufficiently to get them to open their wallets. If this caught on, who would suck up to rich businessmen, where would the case be for taxation based funding of political parties?

It's true UKIP rely on it's membership more than most.

I'm surprised Farage didn't make more of the Treasurer resigning though.
I have seen businesses collapse because they relied on on man to do all the books, then couldn't get to grips with it when they resign.

It all comes back to organisation again.

I am going to make a complaint to the Press Complaints Commission - this article lies. Our vote has fallen in recent elections. How dare they claim it has been rising. Lying scum.

The tone of the article is nasty. The content is rambling and trivial.

So a supporter has been giving Ukip money to keep going - big scandal? The HQ is not in Birmingham - big scandal? The accounts were 6 months late - big scandal?

There have been some very foolish events (eg Knapman's workers, Bloom's 'jokes') but as a whole "the truth" reported here amounts to little.

The 'news' item in the S Telegraph about this issue is fair enough.
